PADI Instructor Course (IDC)
The PADI IDC further hones your leadership and teaching skills to prepare you for life as a PADI Instructor.
You’re getting close. The IDC consists of two sections, the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba
Instructor (OWSI) program. This structure lets you divide the course into two blocks for schedule convenience if you need
to. However, you may prefer to complete the two portions together, going through the entire IDC in as few as seven days.

Now that you're an Instructor . . .
We teach a full range of Instructor Specialties and can help you achieve your goals!
As a PADI Instructor, you can increase your marketability and create a greater demand for yourself by becoming a PADI Specialty
Instructor, EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE™ Instructor or a Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Dive professionals who have the right
skills can work anywhere in the world. Employers seek them out.
Instructors who have gone beyond the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification have special credentials that allow them
to teach PADI Instructor Development Courses or programs within the IDC. PADI IDC Staff Instructors can teach the AI course
in its entirety and may assist with IDCs. PADI Master Instructors teach the same courses as IDC Staff Instructors, however
they have achieved a higher rating through their overall support of the PADI system throughout their career as a dive professional.
The PADI Course Director rating is like earning a master’s degree in scuba education and is the pinnacle of all PADI
Instructor level certifications. Course Directors teach the full spectrum of PADI Courses and focus on conducting PADI IDCs.
