Where
are the classes held?
Our
ON-SITE POOL and LARGE, EXECUTIVE CLASSROOM make us unique in the diving education world. You will not have to go one place for the pool dives and another
for the classroom. Having our own specially designed diving pool means that you will receive all the confined water
time needed to get the education you deserve. In addition, we teach in a state-of-the-art classroom, not a corner
of the store. We have redefined dive education!
Where
are the open water dives conducted?
We several
options for completing your open water dives. In the warm, summer months we offer dives at Payette Lake, Redfish Lake,
Warm Lake, Lucky Peak, Arrowrock Res., Quinns Pond, Clark's Pond, Seattle, and others. When the weather cools down we retreat
to the geothermal springs in Utah. The most popular warm springs is Blue Lake just South of Wendover, NV. We also use Homestead
Crater in Park City, UT and Seabase in Grantsville, UT. Referrals are available at no charge, as well.
What are the prerequisites for the PADI Open Water Course?
Anyone of least 10 years of age and in good physical and mental condition may enroll in the PADI Open
Water Course. Additionally, participants must pass a watermanship assessment during the course.
Prior to enrolling we will ask that you complete the PADI Medical Statement. A physician's approval may be necessary to begin
your course.
What do I need to provide in addition to the course fee?
There is nothing additional you need to purchase or rent. You are responsbile for you personal
expenses when traveling to dive sites. For sanitary reasons and precise fitting we suggest you purchase a high quality mask, fins, and snorkel before your first
pool dive.
What do
I need to bring to the first class?
You should bring a swimsuit
and towel, your PADI Crew Pak, and any equipment you have purchased (must be inspected by us if purchased somewhere other
than our store). LIghtweight wetsuits are recommended. For weekend courses please make sure that you have read and completed
the Knowledge Reviews sections of chapters 1-5 and have view all 5 video sections. For evening and private courses please
have chapters 1-2 completed with the videos viewed prior to the first class.
Do
students get a discount on equipment?
Yes! We have some really
good prices for our students. We recommend that you purchase your mask, fins, snorkel, and boots prior to your first
class. If they are not right for you we will discover that during your course and be able to trade you for the right
gear (provided you purchase them from us). Also, it is very important to learn how to use and be comfortable with
one set of gear. This will make you safer and more comfortable diving. Then, during your course, we suggest getting your
wetsuit picked out and start using it during your lessons. By the end of the class, or shortly after certification, you will
come in and get fitted for your BCD and regulator.
Can several people share the Crew Pak?
This is not possible since you have to write your own answers in the PADI manual
and logbook.
Is diving
really safe?
As
with most recreational activities there are potential risks and you will be informed of them at enrollment. These risks,
however, are managed by careful planning and thorough dive instruction. Over the years diving has boasted one of the lowest
incident rates among similar activities. In fact, diving has a lower incident rate than bowling!
I don't have a buddy. Do I need one to take
the class?
No.
In fact, most people take the class without knowing anyone else in the course. You will have the opportunity to work with
several compatible dive buddies throughout your course.
Can I complete my open water dives in the tropics?
Absolutely! Actually, about 30% of all the divers we train
complete their open water dives while on a tropical vacation. You can actually save time and money be completing the PADI
referral program. Ask your instructor for more details.
I am a little nervous about learning. Is this normal?
Very common! It is OK to be a nervous or to have some anxiety.
But, you'll find that this will quickly disappear, usually around the 2nd or 3rd lesson. Some take a little longer but
even they become comfortable.
How
long does the certification last?
Your card never expires. We recommend that you make a couple of dives each year or enroll in a scuba review
course annually to maintain your skills.
What
happens if I miss a class?
Our
instructors are very willing to work with you. One of the benefits of taking your open water course with us is the ON-SITE POOL. This allows us to be flexible and easily perform make-up sessions.
Can parents enroll in the Scuba Camp
scuba class?
Yes.
In fact, we encourage parents to do so. Even if you are not a parent and you would like a daytime, weeklong scuba class (and
don't mind kids) then you could take this course.
How do I sign up?
Call us at (208) 342-1378 to reserve a space in any upcoming course. We ask that you come in shortly afterwards
to pick up supplies and complete some paperwork. We recommend registering at least 2 weeks prior to course start date.
How soon should I sign up for a class?
We recommend 2-4 weeks prior to the start date. This
will give you ample time to review class materials and prepare for the course. Classes do tend to fill up so we recommend
early enrollment.
